Stop Sinning

Deliverance of the heart and mind

Ceasing from sin is a simple concept. The reason why many find it difficult is because of false teachings, lack of understanding, making things more complicated than it needs to be or simply not wanting to do it. Most people do not believe we need to stop, so hearing that we must would not go well with them. Then there are others who, because they have been taught lies, find it hard to receive anything new even if it's true. Then there are others who may believe it, but lack understanding in how. Then there are others who believe it, but make it more complicated than it needs to be and get frustrated. Finally, there are those who just do not want too, and anything you do not want to do will be hard. But the truth is, the concept as in the principal is as easy as the math equation a + b = c. The amount of work required to solve the equation is based on how much pilled up sin one has to deal with: 1 + 1 = 2 is just as easy as a concept as 56 + 88 = 144, but the first will require less work than the second because of how small the values are, however one having more work than the other does not change the fact that the principal is still easy.

Hearing Jesus Word + Faithfully Obeying Jesus Word = Destruction of Sin

Where to start

So where do you start? FIRST: Believe in the name of JESUS. This means believe in Jesus Christ as your saviour. Trust He is going to finish what He starts in and with you. It is through Him you are saved, think of your obedience as you doing your part; if you mess up when trying He is not mad at you. Have the attitude of a student and a follower knowing your teacher is patient, kind and loving. If you mess up, He is there to help you up and show you the right way. If you are trapped and nothing works, He is there to save. Believe this, this is where it all starts, this will crush the enemies condemnation if you fall. Keep this foundation stored in your heart and mind.

Next, where you actively start… You are going to have to go to Jesus and pray and ask Him some serious questions. After you ask the questions, you are going to have to wait on an answer. Make sure before you come to Him, you are serious, genuine and ready to learn and change (broken, contrite and repentant). It is important that after you go to Jesus and ask Him, that you wait on Him to answer. Many ask Jesus a list of questions, do not wait for answers then get up from praying and continue with their day. They also miss when the answers comes through various other ways (Jesus will still answer). Wait on Him, know He is going to answer (Mark 11:24). Remember He can speak through many ways even in the mind: words, thoughts, imaginations and visions, bringing things back to remembrance, convictions, and even the very light simple 'knowing' feeling. Many expect thunder and lightning, but Jesus often answers in very gentle and naturally feeling ways. If you find that there is silence or no answer after a period of time and you know you are not doubting, judge and check yourself to make sure you do not already know the answer. Jesus often does the silent treatment if He has already told you.

So what is it you are asking regarding ceasing from sin?

If you do not know what sins you are doing, then ask, but you should know.

When you know, ask Jesus: How do I fight this, what should I do to stop and overcome?

When you get the answer and understand how to do it… Do what He says.

Seek Jesus until you totally understand what to do, even if you have to ask Him about the answer (even multiple times), ask a lot of questions if you need to, do not feel like you can't, do not feel stupid, do not put restrictions or limit yourself. It is written not to lean on your own understanding, you gain understanding by asking Jesus questions and hearing His Words, letting Him teach you and obeying Him. Ask Jesus and make sure you understand then do what He says.

Whatever Jesus has said to you regarding overcoming that sin, this is now a LAW to you, which is now written in your heart, guard it and do it. You will know it is Him if you do what He says:

Joh 7:16 יהושע answered them and said, “My teaching is not Mine, but His who sent Me.
Joh 7:17 “If anyone desires to do His desire, he shall know concerning the teaching, whether it is from Elohim, or whether I speak from Myself.

Joh 8:31 So יהושע said to those Yehuḏim who believed Him, “If you stay in My Word, you are truly My taught ones,
Joh 8:32 and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Do this with every sin, Jesus will show you each one and even new things as you grow in Him. Continue to seek Him learn and do what He says. This is the Covenant He has with us: More on this.

If you mess up

When you start to obey Jesus, you will find immediate results. The enemy may very well stop bothering you completely in this area, or the enemy may try and get you to stop doing what Jesus has said then try and lead you back to sin, or the enemy may come at you from a new angle which requires you to follow Jesus' leading. You will find you will not be tempted to do that sin as directly as you use too. If you stumble and fall, go back to Jesus and repeat the process, ask Him where you went wrong, ask for more instruction and do it. Do not give up, go back to Jesus, get cleaned up, learn from your mistakes and continue to faithfully press in His Words. Remember, those of faith do not fall to destruction, they get back up, they continue to believe upon the saving of the soul. There is no such thing as giving up, there is only Jesus and His Grace and learning and overcoming.

The more you obey Jesus Word, the stronger you get, even if you fall and get back up again, continue in Him, continue to go back ask questions get teaching and instructions. Eventually as you become consistent and staying in constancy in His Words, Jesus will transform you and you will no longer be tempted when you are tempted. You will no longer be enticed when the enemy comes to tempt you. You will find it very hard to go back to the old ways.

1Pe 1:23 having been born again – not of corruptible seed, but incorruptible – through the living Word of Elohim, which remains forever

1Jn 3:9 Everyone having been born of Elohim does not sin, because His seed stays in him, and he is powerless to sin, because he has been born of Elohim.

Deliverance of the Body

If you started to obey the instructions that Jesus has given you and you find that you are having serious trouble continuing in that obedience. If the enemy keeps on trying to snare you in that sin again or maybe you find you are getting other attacks such as sicknesses and other very odd manifestations that were not happening before when you came to Jesus (and sometimes it could be things you had before), then chances are you are dealing with unclean spirits who have claimed your body. These unwelcomed guests need to be kicked out, but in this situation you will need to ask Jesus about this, He may want them out now or later.

Deliverance

When it comes to unclean spirits that are ready to be dealt with now, normally Jesus just deals with them. Many people through simple obedience to certain things get deliverance, some who have delayed baptism in water, once they go and do it, they get deliverance, others sometimes the baptism of the Holy Spirit, others receive these and still have unclean spirits. Sometimes one will have to repent of certain sins, or pray and break certain curses, others Jesus Himself will just do it as they cry out in prayer, or even in the peace of their sleep if they ask Him, others the LORD may lead them to a brother or sister to cast it out. The point if your in this situation, believe and trust Jesus and follow His leading, seek Him about it and trust in Him and know they are coming out.

Spiritual Warfare

In some cases Jesus will use these very painful and hard trying pressures to shape us and strengthen our faith in Him. There are times He will use the enemy, these unclean spirits to buffet our flesh and teach us different lessons including how to endure and press in faith. He can use them to refine us to cease from sin and have faith in Him in pressing to obey His instructions and being perfect. Ultimately Jesus does the final blow to the enemy much like the children of Israel when they were set free from Egypt and had to run from Pharaoh, eventually we all come to the red sea crossing where Jesus faithfully destroys our enemies.

But if this is a spiritual warfare situation, then Jesus will give you awesome Grace and you will learn how to fight back, the unclean spirits become fire wood, or a punching bag. Jesus has you in the ring and teaches you how to fight and overcome. Those who are in this situation will be receiving instructions and teachings and when they do them they will do damage to the enemy yet they will find the fight continues to go on, this is because you will still have to come to the red sea crossing where Jesus finishes them off, the victory is His, though He can and will use you.

Don't go back!

If you fall and go back into sin after receiving either deliverance from the heart and mind or the body, you can find that if you continue in that sin you will require a refreshing in deliverance again. This is why it is good to first received the truth, have your mind delivered and know how to stand before receiving the deliverance in the body, for it's obeying the Word of God that will keep you and that way you do not end up with requiring deliverance all over again.

Do not be discouraged if you fall, there is no problem too big for Jesus. Just go back to Him, start at step one all over again.

Maintenance

You will need to maintain yourself through the teaching and leading of Jesus, and through this you will continue to grow and grow and grow. Jesus will continue to teach you and lead you and show you more victories. Hold to the things He has taught you and purify yourself through His Word. Submit to Him and let Him complete the work in you.

Following Jesus

Learning how to stop sins in your life is like learning how to stand. After you learn how to stand, it's time to learn how to walk, then run, then fly, and fight! Jesus will teach you all these things. However it is very important to understand, once you have the laws of the New Covenant in you, the laws of freedom which have transformed you, this is not it; it's not over. God will now teach you everything including how to live. One of the most important things you need to go to Him to learn is how to follow Him (how to start walking). There is a big difference between hearing an instruction to deal with sin (which is a situation), and hearing His voice through out the day and night and following His leading real time. Doing things by His leading and His way.

Joh 10:27 “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

Those who follow Jesus they will soon quickly learn that through following Him they will find that they start to cease from making mistakes as time goes on and as they master it, because He goes ahead of them and leads them perfectly.

Joh 10:4 “And when he has brought out his own sheep, he goes before them. And the sheep follow him, because they know his voice.

Jud 1:24 And to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you blameless before the presence of His esteem with exceeding joy

Beware of Pride

Many of those who do get deliverance and do receive Grace and start seeing victory over their sins, do not stay with Jesus. They do not learn to really be slow and follow His leading and be trained by Him in everything. They often run in zeal and pride and even start ministries and get distracted from the rest of their training. Pride grips many babes in Christ and they no longer see themselves as babes. When we start learning from Jesus the enemy works hard to try and mimic His voice. Many babes fall pray to this, they get distracted and fall back into sin, they do not realize because they reject the correction. Pride in hearing Jesus' voice blinds them, they ignore the convictions of the Holy Spirit, and run with the voices that suit their desires and also ignore the their own brethren Jesus sends to warn them. All of this because they are running too fast and did not learn more fundamentals on how to keep themselves. All of this because they will not really go back to Jesus giving up all for the truth.

It is good to ask Him to teach you how to watch for and crush pride, especially pride that comes to attack those who hear and obey Jesus. It is good to ask Him to teach you how to deal with people, especially those who come to correct or accuse you. We have to learn everything from Jesus, ceasing from sin is literally the beginning. We have to continue in a mindset that is constantly pressing and learning and submitting to Jesus, being very watchful and not to hasty. Very many get caught in hastiness, not being watchful, and think they are submitting to Jesus and fall.

Holiness and Sacrifice

When you come to start to cease from sins, it is a good time to slow down and spend a lot more intimate time with Jesus and start learning about His way of life. This is why Holiness, set-apartness is needed. It cuts out distractions and causes us to deny ourselves more so we can become more full of Jesus. Jesus will teach you and even dry up fruitless desires. The more time you spend with Him and press in Him the less you will care for the old desires, hobbies and habits. In this your spiritual ground will become even more fertile for more fruit and growth in Jesus.

We must count the cost for Jesus said this:

Luk 14:33 “So, then, everyone of you who does not give up all that he has, is unable to be My taught one.
Luk 14:34 “The salt is good, but if the salt becomes tasteless, with what shall it be seasoned?
Luk 14:35 “It is not fit for land, nor for manure, they throw it out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”
[read the full context from verse 25]

We must be willing to give up everything. Many are not willing and become snared by cares of this life and this world. They then stumble and fall back even worse than where they were before. Nothing should come between us and Jesus. This walk is not what church has taught people.
