1 John 4 Spirit Test CAN FAIL!

1Jn 4:2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,
1Jn 4:3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.

I know of a sister who was seeking the LORD and asked a question, she tested the spirit by asking, “did Jesus Christ come in the flesh”, she head the response “F*** yeah!” She asked Jesus if that was actually Him, He confirmed to her “No”. Again there was another time she tested the spirit asking if Jesus Christ came in the flesh she heard “Yeah boy!!”, and interestingly enough that one was Jesus. There was another time she tested asking if Jesus Christ came in the flesh, she heard “Yeah dog”, and this was not Him.

In hearing her testimonies I really questioned this because I found it hard to believe that John was wrong. He made it quite clear. Yet even before hearing these testimonies I felt convicted that there was something not entirely right about testing spirits in this manner. I did not like testing spirits in this method, it did not feel like faith, it felt like a password that we are trusting in to know our Gods voice.

One night I had a dream vision, where I saw two of my family members, one was alive and one has passed away. So when I saw the one who had passed away, I knew it was not of God. I and the family member who is alive in the natural went to the one who had passed. I went with the intentions of rebuking the spirit in Jesus name. I held my hand out and it shook my hand, it did not have a firm hand shake it seemed shy. I asked it while holding it “Did Jesus Christ come in the flesh”, its immediate response was “Yeah”. I then asked again, it responded again “yeah” and pulled it’s hand away from me, I then asked “Who came in the flesh?” it responded “Jesus”. I then started rebuking the demon and it began to run yelling “He did, He did!!” still trying to confirm my question trying to convince me that it, the demon, was not a demon. I continued rebuking it, and spoke as Jesus had trained me, it then started shape shifting into other people, then started slandering me then eventually the Holy Spirit destroyed it.

I woke up with the answer to my question. I then asked the LORD how this was possible. John was so clear saying any spirit who testifies Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God. How are demons answering “yeah” and even saying His name when asked? Jesus then reminded me of what the scripture says:

Mat 24:24 “For false messiahs and false prophets shall arise, and they shall show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the chosen ones.

Rev 9:14 saying to the sixth messenger who had the trumpet, “Release the four messengers, those having been bound at the great river Euphrates.”
Rev 9:15 And the four messengers, those having been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released to kill a third of mankind.

This is not to say that this event is what these scriptures are speaking about. The point Jesus was making was that the scriptures warn of coming false christs who were extremely convincing and coming wicked spirits who were not in the world in Johns day, but today are in the world. He also explained that with the coming of false christs the kingdom of darkness can now testify of their own “christ”. Lastly He explained that John did not say to test the spirits by asking “did Jesus Christ come in the flesh”. He explained that John was giving an example of anti-christ doctrine and that there are many anti-christ doctrines. Just like any spirit saying “we cannot stop sinning” is not of God either… He then reminded me, if I want to know the truth I must continue to obey Him (John 8:31-32) and testing spirits is to judge and discern their message. Darkness cannot destroy darkness, false light can expose certain levels of darkness, but false light cannot destroy darkness. The Holy Spirit is the only one who corrects truthfully especially regarding sin, righteousness and judgment, with results, He corrects with teaching and instruction. If we obey Jesus and abide in Him, He exposes darkness and we will not be deceived (John 8:12).

I have a brother who also encountered a demon in his sleep, he had a much longer dialogue with this spirit and when he asked if Jesus Christ came in the flesh, it stared at him directly in the face and answered confidently “Yes”, he asked, “yes what?" It answered, “Yes he has come in the flesh”, he then asked “who came in the flesh?” and it answered, “Jesus”.

There are demonic spirits in the world right now, who can answer the 1 John 4 test and pass. Not all of them have this, but there are ones in the world right now who do. Be on guard, obey Jesus and know the truth.
